Fun Idea!

There are so many great ideas I come accross that inspire me in my creations. I came accross this the other day and thought it was such a unique idea!

This a bracelet made from a fork! Now, I don't think I would make or wear anything like this, but I do think it would be a great idea to make some fun new napkin rings out of odds and end forks.

Happy Black Friday!

It's been a while....a LONG while! I've taken some much needed time off to concentrate on other areas of my life. But, I'm back and ready for some new designs.

I know, it's been a long time since my last post. I started a new job in January that I love and have been working and traveling a lot. What time I am not spending at work I am spending with my beautiful, young family. That doesn't leave much time for jewelry making!

Preping for Saturday

So much to do still! Trying to get my wears ready for the cavalcade on Saturday with my fellow Newnew members! I am hoping for a great turnout and am looking forward to selling some of my inventory. Since it is the day before mothers day, I am hoping this will be a big one!

I unfortunately was assigned the farthest spot in the house, but will not be too disappointed yet because you never know!

Another New Listing on Etsy

Love Love LOVE this piece! New on Etsy today!

A lot of my designs are asymmetrical in design, such as this one. I don't know why they end up asymmetrical...maybe it's because I think it makes the pieces look more interesting. What do you think?

I also find that I use so many blues in my design. It is my favorite color and I think blue goes with just about anything! And I love mixing blues with other colors to accent each other so I added the purple amethyst here. The color combo is perfect!

I imagine this piece being worn in the summer with a great, flowing, colorful tunic!

Spring Renewal

Stay tuned for some great new listing on etsy coming up! I have been very busy creating some summer inspired new pieces for my upcoming shows. The first one I'll be doing is the first Saturday in May with the NewNew Etsy team. The weekend after that will be Nyack. I am very excited about both of them!

I am slowly trying to pull together by wholesale list. My goal is to have a completed version by next weekend! It has been a long time coming but I will be able to start mailing some off by next week! Wish me luck!

I was also accepted into the wholesale division of the NewNew team. Not sure what that will involve but I am hoping to take part is some great wholesale shows with the team. From past experience, it is very expensive to take part in those shows solo, so being part of the team will help.

The above earring were just listed in my Etsy shop. They were featured in an issue of Bead Trends last year. I initially made them using antiqued bronze wire, but a friend of mine had requested them in sterling silver. Once I made hers, I loved the way they turned out on silver so I remade another pair as pictured.

Keep on keeping on!

I feel like all of my posts have one common theme: so much to do, so little time!!! The months are flying by and I can't seem to move into the next step of my business. Seems as though that pesky day job is keeping me bogged down! (Although I am loving my new full time job!!)

I have been trying to narrow down the shows I am going to do this year. I initiallly wanted to do only 6 shows but it seems as though I might be doing a few more. I think there is something like 3 I plan to do in May alone!!!

I just applied to my Etsy teams wholesale division. Hoping to get in and see what they have to offer. I am looking to do much more wholesale so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

It's been TOOOO LONG!!!!

Wow, what a January it has been. It's been quite some time since my last blog. I don't mean to neglect my blog, but I have been so busy including a 10 day trip to Hong Kong. It's been five years since my last visit and it was great to go back. I should be heading back in another six months and will hopefully take pictures next time to share on my post.

I am feverishly trying to get my wholesale line list together to start sending to stores in February. That has been my goal for the last six months but it's been a slow process. My goal is to be in at least 10 stores by the end of the year.

I am also trying to narrow down my retail shows for next year. I may only do six or so. 2010 was a trial period for shows and I know now what shows NOT to do and which have been successful for me.

I also applied for the wholesale division of my ETSY group and am looking forward to working with more wholesale people.

So far, 2011 has treated me very well. I hope it's been wonderful to you as well!

Bead Trends- January 2011

What a way to start out the new year! One of my really fun bracelets similar to the one above is featured in this months Bead Trends!

I took a piece of copper, hammered it, added patina, filed it and finished it. I also added some really great combo of semi precious beads in some beautiful contrasting colors to finish it off.

Happy New Year!!

I love the idea of new beginnings!

I am starting off the new year right. I am making a major change by starting a new "day" job and am very excited about it. I have also set really big goals for my jewelry business and am looking forward to concentrating on the wholesale side! I'm going to be very busy finalizing my line list in the next month to start sending out to stores and press.

New Creations

As the new year draws near, I am busy thinking of new pieces to make. I am constantly inspired by new beads and colors and am eagerly researching bead sites and trying to find something that stands out.

I think these just might be my all time favorites! They are blue matrix jasper. I love that they are nugget shaped, medium in size, and the color is almost perfect!

I have to place a new order for these beads. I am thinking of designing an entire line around them. These beads were used in my favorite pair of earrings as below. Don't you just love them?

Bead Trends

I have been lucky enough to become a monthly contribute to Bead Trend magazine. If you haven't seen it before, it's worth the the money to pick on up and flip through it...you can even get an online version! It is a monthly magazine that features really great artists and fun and inspiring designs.

I just sent the above bracelet in along with the matching necklace and earrings for a future publication. My favorite thing about this piece are the really beautiful jasper nuggets that are such a crisp green. I am a total fan of natural stones because I love the inconsistencies that appear in them. These green nuggets are a perfect example of that! They are all different in color, texture, pattern, but they are all similar at the same time.

This is a really great summer piece and will definitely be on my spring line list I will be sending to my stores in January!

Organizing My Office Space

I am looking for a better office space. Since our home is so small and space is at a premium, I think a great desk with storage space would be perfect. I saw this really great desk with hutch over top of it that I thought was really great from restoration hardware. But it's almost $3000!!! WAY TOO MUCH! But it's the kind of think I am looking for.

I need space for my computer, some desk space to work, and some really great storage space for all of my beads, tools, paperwork, etc. Love this but think I will be loving from afar for a really long time!

Any suggestions?

BRRRRRRRR.......

As I sit here in the cold cold cold NYC weather, my mind is always thinking about summer. I love everything about it! I would much rather be hot and sweating my tush off than have to wear 4 layers of clothing just to go outside.

Most of my designs also reflect that of the summer months... just to show you where my mind is most of the time!
