So Very Busy!!!

Just when I think I have time for a breather, something else comes up. I just got done doing 4 back to back weekends of shows. Considering I spend the entire time just standing in the same spot, it really is very tiring!

I am busing doing many things to get ready by the end of the year. There is a "challenge" going on among some designers to submit 5 pieces using some type of cording or ribbon in the design to possible use for a book! WOO HOO. I'm totally in on this one! I have been published in a lot of magazines, but no books! That would be very cool!

I am also buys making some new pieces for the monthly submits to the beading magazines. I think my favorite right now is Bead Trends.

I also need to start pulling together some new collections for the spring/summer. I have decided to do only two new lines a year, spring/summer and fall/winter. I have a bunch of ideas and need to coordinate on a board and thing about the designs/colors/beads to use. Will take some pictures and post along the way.

One more show for the year coming up the first Sunday of December. Trying also to think of my display for this show considering it isn't and 10 x 10 tent space, only a 6" table. It's the New New group putting on this show so there will be tons of great designers and one of a kind items that would be great for X'mas giving! We are holding in in Soho this year, more details to follow.

Nyack Street Festival on Sunday Ocbober 10th

I will be showing at this awesome street fair on Sunday in the beautiful town of Nyack on the Hudson River. I will be on Broadway if you are looking for me!

This is the first time I will be in this show and I'm really looking forward to it! I have been to Nyack many times and love it. If you have never been, you MUST go! It has such amazing little shops and restaurants. It's a very artsy town with great energy.

See below link for more info!

Hope to see you all there!

Beat Trends, October 2011

I just received some great editorial in Bead Trends October 2011 Magazine featuring my Matrix Earrings. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these! I think out of everything I have made, these may be my very favorite! I mostly love the color combos and how all the colors are total opposites, yet blend so beautifully together! And the color of the blue matrix jasper's I think may be my most favorite color!

After doing a few shows and working directly with customers, I find that a lot of people are looking for something in a color that MATCHES another color. I think this is a mistake. A big big mistake! First of all, you are never going to find something that totally matches another color, it will always be a little off. So, instead of trying to match, you need to do a contrast color instead! So, if you are wearing a burgundy top, why not throw on some really great ocean blue earrings? Again, they are a complete contrast but still look great together! The shirt makes the earrings pop, but still work well with the contrast top color.

These earrings are a perfect example. All different colors are used, but the colors are all in the same family and sit so well together.

So, that's my word of advise to you today... Don't match, contrast!

The Matrix Earrings are currently on my ETSY site for sale!!!

Halloween is Coming!

I love Halloween...it's my second favorite holiday, next to 4th of July! It has definitely become much more fun in the last 6 years with the addition of my children. My oldest, Madeline, was born on October 29th and we brought her home from the hospital on Halloween. I will never forget how warm it was that day, maybe around 70 degrees? And every Halloween since then has been really warm which makes it great weather to be outside walking around trick-or-treating!

In celebration of Halloween, I have made up a whole collection of what I am calling "Day of the Dead" pieces that have skulls as the focal point. I used mostly ceramic skulls by Gaea who is a fabulous ceramic artist in California! Unfortunately, time does not permit me to list all of the pieces on Etsy, but a fair amount are represented so if you love skulls the way I do, go on over to my ETSY shop and check them out!

You can visit me next at the NYACK, NY street fair on Sunday to see my full collection! Hope to see you there!
